Storage & Handling Guide
How to store, reconstitute and dispose of lyophilized peptides in a laboratory setting.
The following information is for educational and research purposes only. These products are not intended for human dosing, injection, or ingestion, and must be handled solely by qualified laboratory personnel.
Reconstitution for Laboratory Assays
Peptides arrive as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. For laboratory assays, they are reconstituted with a Reconstitution Solution – for Laboratory Use before analysis.
- Prepare the Vials: Wipe the rubber stoppers of both the peptide vial and the reconstitution solution vial to maintain a clean working surface.
- Measure the Solution: Using a calibrated laboratory pipette, measure the volume of reconstitution solution your assay protocol specifies.
- Add the Solution: Slowly dispense the solution into the peptide vial. Aim the stream against the glass wall of the vial, not directly onto the powder.
- Dissolve: Do not shake the vial. Gently swirl it until the powder is completely dissolved. The solution should be clear.
Storage
Before Reconstitution (Powder)
Store in a cool, dry place away from light. For long-term storage (months/years), keep in the freezer (-20°C).
After Reconstitution (Solution)
Keep refrigerated (2-8°C). Peptides in solution degrade over time, so prepare only what your assay needs and label each vial with the date it was reconstituted.
Disposal
Dispose of vials, pipette tips and unused solutions according to your institution's laboratory waste procedures.
